The Marante Plaza Hotel Recife is the proposed summer school venue and students accommodation. It is strategically located on the beautiful Boa Viagem Beach and only 15 minutes to the Guararapes Internacional Airport (9,4km).

The historic city Olinda can be reached in 30 minutes by car. The hotel has a vast selection of leisure, restaurants, and cultural activities nearby.

The apartments equipped with air conditioning, cable TV, telephone, minibar and a private bathroom. All rates include breakfast and WI-FI free.

2. By taxi
It is easy to get at the airport. You take about 20 minutes and it costs approximately R$32,00.

3. By Uber

You can dowload an app called “Uber”. This service costs about the half of the taxi price. Although it is a new service in the city, the quality is high. You must just have a credit card registered after dowloading the app because your account will be billed in this card.


Visa and travel information for non-brazilian citizens

Please be aware that in terms of passports and visas for foreign visitors Brazil follows reciprocity protocols celebrated with other countries: hence, a passport and a valid visa are required for travelers that are citizens of countries that improse those same requirements upon visiting Brazilians.

As the requeriments may vary in time, foreign participants are urged to contact the Brazilian Embassy or Consulate in their home country as soon as possible to determine their particular visa requirements and to initiate the application process well in advance of their departure date. If you need a personal letter of invitation to attende the Conference, and have not yet received one, do not hesitate and please contact us by e-mail (xx) and a signed letter will then mailed. This letter of invitation does not imply lecture or the waiver of registration fees.

 

Tourism Visa Exemptions:

If you are going to visit Brazil on tourism, you do not need a visa if you have a passport from one of the following countries (exemptions are valid for stays up to 90 days). Types of Visa:

Tourist Visa (VITUR)
– touristic trip;
– visit to relatives and/or friends for a short period of time;
– scientists, professors or researchers attending cultural, technological or scientific conferences and seminars, and participation at artistic or amateur sport competitions, whenever no monetary prize or paid admission is involved.

Business Visa (VITEM II)
– visits to firms and companies in Brazil with the purpose of: signing contracts; production of media reports (with or without filming); conducting administrative and financial auditing; purchase of products and services, and investigating the existence of business opportunities in Brazil.

 

 

Vaccinations

An Immunization Record against Polio is necessary for children between the ages of three months and six years.

A Yellow Fever International Immunization Certificate (vaccination should occur at least 10 days before travel) is always required if the traveler has been to any of the following countries within the last 90 days of his/her Brazil’s entrance: Angola, Benin, Bissau Guinea, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Camerun, Central African Republic, Colombia, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, French Guiana, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guiana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Kenia, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Panama, Peru, Rwanda, Sao Tome & Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Surinam, Tanzania, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda or Venezuela.
While your local medical center or personal physician should be contacted in case of specific questions, the Brazilian Embassy in your country can provide an updated list of vaccination requirements.
